Radar Hacks
Our site and tools development is in a constant state of flux, and we decided to use this page to disclose some internals before they are made available to public, so if you are technically-savvy, you could use knowledge of some inner workings to utilize our functionality to its full capacity and make it work for you.
Let’s start from RSS feeds you could generate. For now, we allow to generate feeds for each string you are using for searching through News Radar. For example, if you would like to get RSS feeds for “RIM” keyword for our Blackberry vs. The Other Guys radar, you could just put the keyword into a checkbox, check RSS Feed for Your Search box and get URL for the RSS feed you need:
http://www.radarfarms.com/lib/searchagent.php?sstring=rim&bul=AND&type=71

But what if you need to get RSS feed for the entire radar? This functionality is not available yet for general public.
The radar’s feed URL will be:
http://www.radarfarms.com/lib/searchagent.php?type=???&view=1, where ??? is Radar ID.
You can find out the Radar ID in the browser’s Address field, which appears as a value for type parameter:

For the Blackberry radar, this ID is 71. Therefore, the radar feed URL will be:
http://www.radarfarms.com/lib/searchagent.php?type=70&view=1
Knowing the radar feed URL, you could do the following:
- Create Feedburner feed – just follow very simple instructions at Feedburner site:

- If you still in love with your Outlook mail box, you could get Radar feed updates via e-mail using one of e-mail services provided by Feedburner as long as you have a Feedburner feed:

- Create Widgetbox blidget and place it at you site or blog the same way as it was done by several portals and blogs:

- You can just drop our radar feed into Squidoo and get an excellent content-rich page or mash it up with other sources creating a lens on a subject of your interest – see, for instance, Second Life Marketing lens:
